In 1929, for the Barcelona International Exhibition they decided to build Poble Espanyol on the mountain of Montjuïc, as an example of Spanish architecture, handicrafts and cultural wealth. Almost a century later, Poble Espanyol is a living reflection of the soul of a country and a traffic-free, open-air precinct. It is a really nice place to spend at least half a day walking around, with lots of nice buildings, bars, shops and restaurants. They often have concerts there in the evening too. Its great for children too with lots of water features for them to play in.

I had a couple of tickets so that we could get in for 8 euros instead of 14, so as it’s very near to our apartment, we decided to walk up there. We had a really nice day, a vegan Mexican lunch, yey, think I might have to go to Mexico very soon!

We came back via Placa de Espanya as you can walk down the mountain there and its so pretty.

Luckily the fountains are going again there, but I don’t think theyre doing the light and music shows as yet, I hope they start up before I leave in a month’s time. I saw them last time I came to Barcelona a few years ago and they’re amazing.
